Meet The Broker

BrokerFlow
Marvin Onumonu speaks with Scott Ward,
founder and director at BrokerFlow
What made you become
a broker?
I have been a mortgage broker for
12 years. Before that I had a very
different career – I spent 17 years
at Virgin Atlantic – but I reached
a point where I wanted a change
and did not want to return to an
employed role. I wanted the freedom
and responsibility of running my
own business.
Early on I enjoyed the client-facing,
problem-solving side of broking,
but over time the role became
increasingly document-heavy and
administrative. Going through bank
statements, cross-checking income
and expenditure, and managing
compliance took up a lot of time and
was often inefficient.

That frustration is what pushed
me to explore how technology
could help. I started experimenting
with artificial intelligence (AI)
myself, then brought professional
developers on board to build a
solution that eventually became
BrokerFlow. The goal was to create a
tool that addresses the pain points I
experienced as a working broker.
What might people
like to know about you
outside of work?
I am a huge West Ham fan and I
love golf – those are the things I am
the most passionate about besides
family. Family always comes first for
me, and when I do get downtime, I
try to spend it with them or on the
golf course.
What sets BrokerFlow
apart from other firms?
The main differentiator is clarity and
practical usability. Many platforms
collect lots of data but leave it as a
large, unstructured data dump that
still requires significant manual work
to make sense of. BrokerFlow takes
a different approach: it extracts and
analyses client documents – bank
statements, payslips, and other
paperwork – and presents the key
findings in clear, organised tabs.
The system produces bank
statement analysis, income
breakdowns, compliance checks,
and an AI-generated summary that
