Meet The BDM
Ecology Building
ding Society
The Intermediary speaks with Andy Pearson, business development
manager (BDM) at Ecology Building Society
How and why did you
become a BDM?
I’ve always gravitated towards
roles where providing exceptional
service is at the heart of what you
do. I started my career in financial
services, then moved into retail and
self-employment, before returning to
financial services. Earlier in my career
I worked as a mortgage broker, so I

those of my family, so it felt like a
natural cultural fit.
The second factor was work-life
balance. When I worked as a broker,
I was putting in very long hours –
working evenings, weekends, and
often late into the night. I reached a
point where I wanted to rebalance
things, without compromising on
doing meaningful work. Ecology gave
me that opportunity.
What makes Ecology
Building Society
stand out?
For me, it’s the uniqueness of our
approach and the purpose behind
our lending. Many lenders are
