The Intermediary speaks with Charlie Gregory, business
development manager (BDM), London and South East at MT Finance
How and why did you
become a BDM?
I have always been naturally drawn
to people. Right from the beginning
of my career, I found real energy in
connecting with individuals from all
walks of life, people of different ages,
with diverse background stories and
varying life experiences.
I quickly realised that any career
path I chose needed to centre
around human interaction, genuine
relationship-building, and continuous
personal growth.
Property finance turned out to be
the perfect area. It combines the
fast-paced, high-stakes nature and
deeply satisfying process of helping
people achieve complex financial
goals.
Since leaving college, my entire
professional journey has been
rooted in property. I started as an
estate agent, which gave me an

invaluable, raw insight into buyer
psychology, property valuations,
and the mechanics of local housing
markets. From there, I moved into
specialist finance, where I gained
critical hands-on experience working
for both buy-to-let term lenders and
short-term bridging lenders.
Stepping into a BDM role felt
like the natural culmination of that
journey. It allows me to blend my
technical understanding of complex
deal structures with my passion
for building long-term, trust-based
partnerships across the broker
community.
What brought you
to MT Finance?
When you spend a significant
amount of time in the specialist
finance industry, the world becomes
surprisingly small. You get to know
the key players, the shifting trends,
and the lenders that consistently set
the benchmark for high standards.
Throughout my career, MT Finance

I was fortunate enough to know

here, and hearing their first-hand
