Because it gets quite expensive when
you have magnesium gearbox casing
and diff housing, titanium hubs, Inconel
manifolds. Some people value it and
some don't.”
Increasingly, Eagle is seeing demand
for more extreme cars.
Since the Lightweight GTR was
revealed late last year, a client in the US
has commissioned both a Low Drag GTR
and a Low Drag GTR V12, which is unique,
as Eagle typically sticks to the straightsix E-Types.
Brace says: “We do love responding
to bespoke input. It's fun. It's nice if
somebody says: ‘well, actually, I was
thinking about this, is that something
you can do?’ Sometimes we say: ‘to be
honest with you, no, it's not going to work
on an E-Type’. Other times: ‘yeah, leave
that with us, let's have a little think and
see what we can do’.”
While Eagle is seeing demand for these
focused cars, Everrati’s customers value
their cars for the usability they offer.
Lunny says: “We have a few clients
where this is becoming almost their daily
driver. We've got a client in San Francisco
who is a tech billionaire. He would far
rather take his car that we built for him
than anything else. There's no way he
would be driving 1990 911 if it wasn't for
what we did to it.
“These things do cost a lot of
money, but once people are driving
them, they tend to love them. They've got
character, they've got the right weight
distribution, the performance without
being scary.”
The lack of classic car idiosyncrasies
has enabled Everrati’s cars to find new
audiences, beyond those who grew up
wanting them.
Lunny says: “90% of our clients have
never owned the original version […] and
are not car people. They love technology,
they love design, they love sustainability.
But they just want something that's really
cool and enjoyable to drive.
"We've got a lady in London
who commissioned her car because
in Camden, you were discouraged
from driving anything other than an EV
two streets from a school because of air
pollution.
"All her friends have got i3s or Teslas.
She's the coolest mum with the Series
IIA Land Rover, fully electric.”

Consider it similar to
owning an old cottage:
you love its charm,
but still want modern
convenience [...] When
done sympathetically,
with an option to
reverse, there is little
to worry about"
