car they want; then we present them
with an offer. All of our electric vehicles
are currently on a 0% finance offer and
finance deposit options, so being able to
offer these makes it easier to have the
conversation about money.
However, the only one that qualifies for
the Government Electric Car Grant is the
C-HR+.
What are the main
challenges you are facing at
the moment?
I would say it is finding stock and
ensuring we are hiring the right people to
come and work in our workshop.
It is a focused workshop because we
just look after Toyota, so trying to find
the right quality vehicle technician who
can work on Toyota cars specifically
is difficult. Qualification is one thing, but
a little time served is helpful.
It is about the person as much as the
ability; we can train and support them,
but if their attitude is not right, it just will
not work.
What opportunities are
emerging in the market that
were not there one or two
years ago?
For us, definitely electric vehicles. In new
and used cars, we went from having one
BZ4X hatchback in stock to now having
an ideal stock mix that is probably seven
or eight, and now we are starting to
grow that EV mix.
Then, we will want more C-HR stock,
as well as more Urban Cruisers, because
that market's very fast-moving.
Now that Toyota has got such a variety
of powertrains and vehicle types, it
allows us to offer customers a car
for every phase of their life. They can
transition from a smaller city car, into
a bigger SUV if they decide to have a
family or something. And if they want
something even bigger, we can offer that.
When we get the opportunity, we want
to make sure we can show potential
customers the vehicles we have to offer
and give them a positive experience.
